Transvisa-DHL has trusted EGEIN, Engineering & Construction to carry out the turnkey engineering and construction of a logistics platform with 11,000 m² of operational surface in Igualada (Barcelona). This facility will have an optimized storage height of 12 meters and will be equipped with 18 loading docks, as well as modern corporate offices.
One of the highlights of this project, and due to the low-capacity load-bearing characteristics of the terrain, detected through the geotechnical study, has been the design and execution of the 7m deep foundation work using prefabricated piles by driving, with a real-time control system on site by carrying out Dynamic Load Tests with the Pile Driving Analyzer (A.H.P.), as a systematic control of the piling. These tests allow, in a rapid and non-destructive way on final piles, to analyze both the ground conditions and the development of the driving, controlling the integrity of the pile and its differentiated load capacity in the shaft and tip. This technique not only ensures the structural stability of the building, but also reinforces the “turnkey” concept, demonstrating our ability to carry out each stage of the project and work with maximum precision and efficiency.
Another important challenge has been the construction of retaining walls on the plot, which reach an impressive height of more than 9 meters. We have chosen to use prefabricated concrete systems with variable depth and buttresses. Through the design and execution of this construction system we have not only managed to improve safety on site, but we have also significantly reduced the deadlines in the execution phase, avoiding the assembly of scaffolding, formwork, shoring or other traditional construction systems. , while we have provided a high-quality finish that complements the entire installation.
Through this containment work, with a meticulous approach and the technical specialization and experience that characterizes our engineering and construction teams, we have achieved for our client the maximum use of the surface of the plot, which had a considerable initial unevenness.
